What your DNA results can help you do

Autoimmune and blood conditions can have a strong genetic component. Your results can uncover inherited factors that may be relevant to your health.

Explore your risk for autoimmune conditions

Learn about genetic factors associated with conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, multiple sclerosis, psoriasis, Crohn’s disease, and ulcerative colitis.

Uncover inherited blood-related risks

Identify genetic variants associated with conditions affecting blood clotting, red blood cells, iron processing, and other aspects of blood health.

Consider informed next steps

Share relevant findings with your healthcare provider to discuss whether monitoring, further evaluation, or other follow-up may be appropriate.

Hereditary hemochromatosis

Addison's Disease

Addison's disease is a rare condition that affects the adrenal glands. It causes insufficient hormone production and may lead to severe health complications.

Celiac disease

Celiac disease is an autoimmune disorder that causes an abnormal sensitivity to gluten, a protein found in wheat, rye, and barley, and their derivatives. Autoimmune disorders occur when the immune system malfunctions and attacks the body's own tissues and organs.

G6PD deficiency

Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) deficiency is a genetic disorder. This condition mainly affects red blood cells, which carry oxygen from the lungs throughout the body.

Hashimoto's Disease

An autoimmune condition targeting the thyroid, leading to hypothyroidism. Relatively common and can cause fatigue, weight gain, and depression.

Hereditary Hemochromatosis

(HFE)
Hereditary hemochromatosis is a genetic disorder characterized by excessive iron absorption and deposition in various organs, including the liver, heart, and pituitary gland. Most of the affected individuals are homozygous for the C282Y variant in the HFE gene.

Hereditary thrombophilia

Hereditary thrombophilia is an inherited clotting condition that can cause blood clots to form in the blood vessels. Genetic changes can result in abnormal proteins that result in an increased risk for clotting.

Multiple Sclerosis

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic autoimmune disease that affects the central nervous system, which comprises the brain and spinal cord. In MS, the immune system mistakenly attacks myelin, the insulating layer that surrounds and protects nerve fibers.

Rheumatoid Arthritis

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic autoimmune condition in which the immune system mistakenly attacks the synovium — the tissue that lines the joints. This causes inflammation that leads to joint pain, swelling, warmth, and stiffness.

Type 1 Diabetes

Type 1 diabetes is a chronic autoimmune condition in which the body's immune system mistakenly attacks and destroys the insulin-producing beta cells of the pancreas. Insulin is essential for allowing glucose — the body's primary energy source — to enter cells.

Venous Thromboembolism

Venous thromboembolism (VTE) is a serious medical condition that encompasses two related conditions: deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE). DVT occurs when a blood clot (thrombus) forms in a deep vein, most commonly in the legs, obstructing normal blood flow.

Alopecia Areata

Alopecia areata has a strong genetic component, and multiple genes are involved, especially those linked to the immune system and inflammatory processes. The condition has no cure but hair often regrows on its own without treatment within a year.

Crohn's disease

Crohn's disease is a chronic disease that primarily affects the digestive system. This condition results from an abnormal immune response that causes excess inflammation.

Graves' Disease

An autoimmune condition that leads to overproduction of thyroid hormones, affecting 1-2% of the population and can cause serious health issues if untreated.

Hereditary hemochromatosis

Hereditary hemochromatosis is a disorder that causes the body to absorb too much iron from the diet. The excess iron is stored in the body's tissues and organs, particularly the skin, heart, liver, pancreas, and joints.

Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangiectasia

(ACVRL1, ENG, SMAD4)
Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangiectasia (HHT), also known as Osler-Weber-Rendu syndrome, is an autosomal dominant genetic disorder characterized by the development of abnormal blood vessels, leading to telangiectasias and arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) in various organs. It can be caused by mutations in ACVRL, ENG and SMAD4, which interfere with vascular remodeling and disturb blood vessel wall integrity.

Lupus

Lupus (systemic lupus erythematosus, or SLE) is a chronic autoimmune disease in which the immune system produces abnormal antibodies that attack the body's own cells and tissues. Unlike many autoimmune conditions that target a single organ, lupus can affect virtually any part of the body, including the skin, joints, kidneys, brain, lungs, blood vessels, and heart.

Pemphigus Vulgaris

The management of pemphigus vulgaris typically involves the use of immunosuppressive agents to reduce the activity of the immune system to stop the formation of new blisters.

Susceptibility to HIV-1 infection

Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) is the virus that causes acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS). The virus attacks the body's immune cells, invading them in an effort to produce more virus particles.

Ulcerative Colitis

Ulcerative colitis (UC) is a chronic inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) in which the immune system produces an overactive inflammatory response that causes persistent inflammation and ulceration of the lining of the colon and rectum. Tiny sores or ulcers form on the mucosal surface of the colon, which can bleed and produce pus, leading to the characteristic symptoms of the disease.

Vitiligo

Vitiligo is a condition in which the skin loses pigment. Normally, special skin cells called melanocytes produce a pigment called melanin.
