What your DNA results can help you do

Lifestyle and routine health measurements reveal part of the picture of your heart and lung health. Your DNA can uncover risks that might otherwise remain hidden.

Look beyond the usual risk factors

Learn whether your DNA is associated with an increased risk for common cardiovascular and respiratory conditions, including coronary artery disease, atrial fibrillation, high blood pressure, stroke, and asthma.

Identify conditions that can run in families

Discover genetic variants linked to inherited conditions affecting the heart, blood vessels, cholesterol levels, and lungs. Some may be relevant to your relatives as well.

Make more informed decisions

Share relevant findings with your healthcare provider to discuss whether earlier screening, closer monitoring, lifestyle changes, or other preventive measures may be appropriate for you.

Arrhythmogenic Right Ventricular Cardiomyopathy

(PKP2, DSP, DSC2, DSG2, TMEM43)
Arrhythmogenic Right Ventricular Cardiomyopathy (ARVC) is a genetic disorder of the heart muscle, predominantly affecting the right ventricle. It is characterized by the replacement of myocardial tissue with fibrous and fatty tissue, leading to arrhythmias and an increased risk of sudden cardiac death (SCD).

Asthma

Asthma is a chronic condition of the airway and lungs in which exposure to certain triggers causes the airways to become inflamed, swollen, and narrowed. This constriction restricts the flow of air into and out of the lungs, leading to episodes of wheezing, shortness of breath, chest tightness, and coughing.

Calmodulinopathy

(CALM1, CALM2, CALM3)
Calmodulinopathy is a rare arrhythmia syndrome caused by mutations in any of the three calmodulin genes (CALM1, CALM2, CALM3), leading to life-threatening cardiac arrhythmias, particularly in young individuals. The phenotype overlaps with both long QT Syndrome (LQTS) and catecholaminergic polymorphic ventricular tachycardia (CPVT).

Coronary Artery Disease

Coronary artery disease (CAD), also known as coronary heart disease (CHD), is the most common type of heart disease. It develops when plaque — a buildup of cholesterol, fat, calcium, and other substances — accumulates inside the coronary arteries, narrowing the blood vessels that deliver oxygen-rich blood to the heart muscle.

Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, Vascular Type

(COL3A1)
Vascular Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (vEDS) is a rare connective tissue disorder characterized by arterial, intestinal, and uterine fragility, leading to a heightened risk of spontaneous vascular or visceral rupture. It is primarily caused by mutations in the COL3A1 gene, which encodes a type of collagen, crucial for blood vessel walls and hollow organs.

Heart disease

Heart disease, also known as cardiovascular disease, generally describes conditions caused by narrowing or blockage of the blood vessels that supply blood to the heart itself. This is the major reason that people have heart attacks.

High blood pressure

High blood pressure, also called hypertension, refers to elevated blood pressure over a long period of time. Blood pressure is the force your blood exerts on your arteries as it moves through them from your heart to other parts of your body.

Loeys-Dietz Syndrome

(TGFBR1, TGFBR2, SMAD3)
Loeys-Dietz Syndrome (LDS) is a genetic connective tissue disorder characterized by arterial aneurysms, arterial tortuosity, and various craniofacial and skeletal manifestations (e.g. hypertelorism, bifid/split uvula, cleft palate, premature fusion of the skull, and cervical spine deformity). It is commonly caused by mutations in TGFBR1 and TGFBR2 genes (also SMAD3), with autosomal dominant inheritance with variable penetrance.

Long QT Syndrome Type 1

(KCNQ1)
Long QT Syndrome (LQTS) is a cardiac disorder characterized by a prolonged QT interval on the electrocardiogram (ECG), which can lead to life-threatening arrhythmias. LQTS type 1 (LQT1) accounts for 35-40% percent of LQTS and is caused by loss-of-function variants in the KCNQ1 gene.

Marfan Syndrome

(FBN1)
Marfan syndrome (MFS) is one of the most common inherited disorders of connective tissue. It is an inherited disorder that commonly causes ocular, cardiovascular and musculoskeletal abnormalities, but can also affect the skin, lung and CNS.

Thoracic Aortic Disease

(ACTA2, MYH11)
Heritable thoracic aortic disease (HTAD) is a genetic condition characterized by the enlargement of the thoracic aorta, which can lead to dissection or rupture. This condition can result from mutations in the ACTA2 and MYH11 genes, and often follows an autosomal dominant inheritance pattern.

Artery Hardening

The blood vessel walls become thick and stiff. This is called artery hardening (arteriosclerosis).

Atrial fibrillation

Atrial fibrillation (AFib) is the most common form of heart arrhythmia. An arrhythmia is when the heart beats too fast, too slow, or in an irregular pattern.

Catecholaminergic Polymorphic Ventricular Tachycardia

(RYR2, CASQ2, TRDN)
Catecholaminergic Polymorphic Ventricular Tachycardia (CPVT) is a genetic disorder that predisposes individuals to potentially life-threatening arrhythmias, particularly during physical activity or emotional stress. It is characterized by bidirectional or polymorphic ventricular tachycardia in the presence of a structurally normal heart.

Dilated Cardiomyopathy

(TNNT2, LMNA, FLNC, TTN, BAG3, DES, RBM20, TNNC1, PLN)
Dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) is a disorder characterized by the enlargement and impaired contraction of the heart's ventricles, leading to heart failure and arrhythmias. Familial DCM is caused by pathogenic mutations in genes such as BAG3, DES, FLNC, LMNA, PLN, RBM20, TNNC1, TNNT2, and TTN.

Familial Hypercholesterolemia

(APOB, PCSK9, LDLR)
Familial Hypercholesterolemia (FH) is the most common autosomal dominant genetic disease. It is characterized by extremely elevated low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) levels and a propensity to early-onset atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease.

Hereditary TTR (transthyretin) amyloidosis

(TTR)
Hereditary transthyretin (TTR) amyloidosis is a rare, inherited condition caused by mutations in the TTR gene. It is characterized by the deposition of amyloid fibrils composed of misfolded transthyretin (TTR) protein in various organs.

Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy

(MYH7, MYBPC3, TNNI3, TPM1, MYL3, ACTC1, PRKAG2, MYL2)
Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM) is a genetic disorder characterized by the abnormal thickening of the heart muscle. This thickening can lead to obstruction of blood flow, diastolic dysfunction, and an increased risk of arrhythmias.

Long QT Syndrome 3; Brugada Syndrome

(SCN5A)
Mutations in the SCN5A gene are most commonly associated with long QT syndrome and/or Brugada syndrome. Long QT Syndrome (LQTS) is a cardiac disorder characterized by a prolonged QT interval on the electrocardiogram (ECG), which can lead to life-threatening arrhythmias.

Long QT Syndrome Type 2

(KCNH2)
Long QT Syndrome (LQTS) is a cardiac disorder characterized by a prolonged QT interval on the electrocardiogram (ECG), which can lead to life-threatening arrhythmias. LQTS type 2 (LQT2) accounts for 25 - 40% of cases of congenital LQTS and is caused by pathogenic mutations in the KCNH2 gene.

Stroke

A stroke occurs when blood flow to the brain is blocked or interrupted preventing oxygen from getting to brain cells. The most common type of stroke is called an ischemic stroke which is the result of blockage in the artery that takes blood to the brain.
